Help get #NetsOutNow before more marine animals are caught

This week, the Queensland Government’s Shark Control Program caught three humpback whales, and though both have since been freed, the trauma caused was cruel and totally unnecessary.

Tragically, this is nothing new.  The Shark Control Program has been killing marine wildlife with nets and drumlines since 1962 in a misguided effort to protect people from the risk of shark bite.

Effective, non-lethal solutions are available that improve safety for both ocean users and wildlife. It’s time to heed the science, get with the times, and move to a non-lethal program that can better protect people, wildlife, and ocean ecosystems.
