Africa’s lions are disappearing

Lions, the magnificent kings of the jungle are in terrible trouble. The situation is growing worse every day. There were as many as 200,000 lions 100 years ago—today experts estimate that only about 20,000 individuals are left in the wild.

Africa’s lions might disappear from the planet in our lifetime, if we don’t act now.

Sadly, we are the biggest threat to their survival. Lions are threatened by habitat loss, poaching, retaliation killings to protect livestock, trophy hunting and illegal wildlife trade.

Humane Society International with our international partner, Conservation South Luangwa (CSL) in Zambia, is supporting the frontline emergency response to save Africa’s big cats. CSL’s anti-poaching patrols ensure Zambia’s critical lion population is protected now and for future generations.

Together we can create a better future for Africa’s lions. With your gift, our partner CSL’s anti-poaching patrols can continue their critical conservation efforts.  Give Now.
